What is a refractometer and what can it be used for?

 

Most people feel clueless when reading science books because they don’t find the information engaging and easy to read. After years of trying to get to the bottom of it, I’ve managed to develop my passion for this beautiful art and I want to share with you a little bit of my knowledge. These units are microprocessor-controlled electronic instruments that can be combined with other types of measuring devices.

It’s unfortunate that kids nowadays don’t have the opportunities that we used to have back in the day, which is to say that they spend more of their time in front of a display than they would outside, actually tasting freedom.

My nephew is six-years-old, so there are many things that still amaze him, despite the fact that he is intelligent and resourceful. The coolest thing about this book is that it is packed with a myriad of experiments. Each of them is thoroughly explained thanks to a set of detailed instructions so that both you and the child get to understand what you are supposed to do.

We all know how frustrating scientific terminology can really be, even for an adult. It’s pretty frustrating for a kid to find him or herself feeling baffled because they don’t know what to do. Home Lab: Exciting Experiments for Budding Scientists is one of those books that doesn’t get you in trouble. It is detailed, simple to read and grasp, and it comes with an impressive number of pictures and diagrams that make everything a lot easier than you’d initially think.

Both the instructions and the colorful layout are highly spoken of by those who have purchased the book for their children. So, I’m not the only one. Of course, I had to do my homework before buying the book because I wasn’t just willing to pick one and get it over with. I actually wanted something that my nephew could use, preferably in my presence or with my help. I love giving him a hand with his science projects, so I always make sure to make some time for him during the weekends.

Lab equipment can be fascinating in its way. Different terms used may sound like sci-fi lingo for people who don’t work in a scientific field, but the truth is the hardware used in labs is not that complicated, and I think that everyone could get a clearer idea of what it does, with great ease. In this post, I want to tell you all about a magnetic stirrer and how can be used.

 

First thing first, what is a magnetic stirrer?

This piece of equipment is used for creating a rotating magnetic field. Its design is not very complicated, and it consists of a small magnet and a stand on which the magnet is mounted. The magnet rotates, thus creating the field mentioned earlier.
